Got a Headache? Fresh Pineapple May Help Zap Your Pain

this morning

When's the last time you had fresh pineapple? It is lovely mixed into yogurt or eaten alongside whole grain toast or even as a side for scrambled eggs. If you wake up with aches and pains from yesterday's workout (or a headache from last night's outing with the girls), here's how pineapple can make you feel better fast...

I've had my eye on pineapple for a while (love this fruit!), and the folks at Dole reached out recently to remind me of an interesting health benefit of pineapple that you may not know about: pain relief. Pineapples are the only known source of bromelain, an enzyme boasting anti-inflammatory properties that may alleviate symptoms of pain--even mega arthritis pain, say some experts.

So, if your bod isn't feeling it this morning, why not reach for a pineapple? While canned pineapple is great for all kinds of recipes, fresh is best if you want that pain-blasting enzyme (which is destroyed in the canning process).

How are you feeling this morning gals? Got pain?
