Weight and Expectation No Problem for Lee

Snooker: Stephen Lee is through to the semi-finals of the Saga Masters after thrashing Peter Ebdon

Stephen Lee's sweeping 6-1 win over Peter Ebdon gave him a place in tonight's semi-finals of the Saga Masters and provided encouragement to those who believe that significant success at snooker is compatible with possessing a fuller figure. No leading player has carried as much weight as Lee since the late Bill Werbeniuk, a world No8 of the 1980s who religiously consumed a daily 40 pints of lager.

Few of today's leading players carry much excessive poundage. Ronnie O'Sullivan, recently a creditable 28th in the Essex Cross Country Championships, is particularly sleek and barely breaks sweat in the arena while Lee, who piles on weight whatever he eats, invariably perspires profusely. This has often appeared to affect him in the latter stages of long matches, although he did manage a fine 64 clearance to snatch a 6-5 victory over Graeme Dott on the final black in the opening round, a contest which proved, that effort apart, how badly it is possible to play at this level and still win.

Benefits of Using a Baby Pacifier With a Pacifier Leash

Parents often worry about whether their babies should use pacifiers or not. Pacifiers can provide many benefits for infants, including calming a cranky baby and reducing the risk of SIDS. Attaching a pacifier clip to the pacifier can help, as well.

Research has shown and experts agree that babies crying for the breast or bottle are not always hungry. Babies often just feel an urge to suck on something, and a pacifier with a pacifier clip is perfect for these times. With the pacifier clip tied on to the pacifier, and attached to clothing or car seat straps, it is virtually impossible to lose the pacifier. That makes it very easy to soothe a fussy baby. The pacifier can also help to settle a baby back to sleep when it wakes during the night.

"You're going to have blowback by insurers" over how much they will pay, he said, but Amgen might try to charge more than $10,000 per year.

Dr. Lenore Buckley, a professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, said all these drugs carry some risks. The studies found denosumab caused eczema in some patients, and a dozen of the women got a serious skin infection, cellulitis, that sometimes required hospitalization for intravenous antibiotics.

"Because this drug affects the immune system, the long-term effects on cancer risk or immune function is still unknown," she warned, saying she expects FDA will require Amgen to track risks over time if the drug is approved.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry is in the news this week for her new role in the movie 'Shoes Addicts Anonymous'.  When we think of Halle Berry we think of an empowered and successful women who has accomplished an extraordinary amount in her young life.  We also think of a woman who is living with diabetes.

In 1989, during the taping of Living Dolls, a short lived television series, the actress lapsed into a coma and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.  The American Diabetes Association estimates that 500,000 to 1 million people in the US have this condition.  Type 1 diabetes is a disorder caused by autoimmune distruction of the insulin secreting cells of the pancreas resulting in the body's inability to produce sufficient insulin to meet bodily needs.

Harvard study

It's getting very difficult not to get the point -- our diets should include more fruits and vegetables. The latest Harvard study finds five to six servings a day can reduce your risk of stroke by more than 30 percent.

The study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, looks at healthy men and women, ages 40 to 75, over a 14-year period. It finds women who ate an average of 5.8 servings of fruits and veggies and men who had 5.1 servings a day lowered their risk of ischemic stroke -- the most common type, caused by a blood clot in the brain -- by 31 percent when compared to those who ate fewer than three servings.

health problems

People suffering from common mental health problems like anxiety or depression are more likely to become obese, researchers said.

The risks increase every time a person suffers an episode of feeling depressed or anxious.

The research was carried out on more than 4,000 adults (3,122 men and 1,241 women) aged 35 to 55 who were followed for more than 19 years.

They were asked questions about their health and had their weight measured at several points over the study period.

The results showed those who suffered anxiety or depression for most of the study were twice as likely to be obese as those who did not have such problems.
